At the third annual Samsung Solutions Forum, the company demonstrated the DVB-H receiver chipset that it introduced last year, a new in-house mobile processor and a multimedia chip as well as a reference platform with operating software for portable multimedia players (PMPs) and personal data assistants (PDAs).
The DVB-H solution is expected to significantly reduce the time needed for manufacturers to develop DVB-H applications. In particular, multiple testing procedures required for compatibility amongst various chips is no longer required with Samsung’s new “all-in-one” platform.

The global market for DVB-H-capable handsets is estimated to be 5 million units in 2006 and forecasted to jump to at least 50 million units by 2008.
