LSI MegaRAID(R) SAS adapters, coupled with a combination of Maxtor(R) Atlas(R) SAS hard drives and Maxtor MaXLine(R) hard drives, enable system builders to meet both performance and capacity requirements for servers and high-performance workstations. Testing included the Maxtor Atlas SAS hard drive family with the LSI MegaRAID SAS adapter and the Maxtor MaXLine enterprise SATA drive family with the LSI 3Gb/s and 1.5Gb/s MegaRAID SATA adapters.

Maxtor Atlas 15K II SAS drives are ideal for applications requiring the highest performance, while Maxtor Atlas 10K V SAS drives are ideal for applications requiring a balance of performance and capacity. LSI MegaRAID SATA adapters can be combined with Maxtor MaXLine Pro 500 or MaXLine III drives for applications requiring the highest capacity and data density.

“Ongoing compatibility testing of our enterprise family of SAS and SATA disk drives with the LSI MegaRAID family of adapters provide our channel customers assurance that they are using proven solutions,” said Brendan Collins, vice president of enterprise marketing at Maxtor. “This saves them time and money by taking advantage of pre-tested products.”

“Maxtor and LSI understand that customers’ various forms of data can have very different storage requirements,” said Joe Leader, senior director of channel marketing and business development, LSI Logic. “To account for these differences, Maxtor provides a complete range of SAS and SATA solutions enabled by LSI. Maxtor testing should provide customers with security in knowing that our MegaRAID SAS adapters work seamlessly with the Atlas family of drives for today’s online applications, while our MegaRAID SATA adapters are proven with the Maxtor MaXLine portfolio for secondary applications.”

As the industry continues its transition to SAS, Maxtor looks forward to continuing to work with LSI on ongoing compatibility testing to enable a comprehensive infrastructure for SAS and SATA RAID deployment.

Maxtor is participating at the Storage Networking World Conference, April 3-6, 2006 in San Diego, Calif. at the Manchester Grand Hyatt. Maxtor’s booth (#C23) will showcase the flexibility, performance and scalability of SAS and SATA technologies.
