The FireGL(TM) V3300 and FireGL(TM) V7200 workstation graphics accelerators will be at the heart of the HP xw6400 and xw8400 Workstations, while ATI’s Mobility FireGL(TM) V5200 GPU will drive the HP nw8440 Mobile Workstation.

These FireGL graphics products are part of ATI’s new top-to-bottom family of accelerators based on the same advanced technology found in the recently introduced ultra high-end FireGL(TM) V7350, the industry’s first one gigabyte (1GB) workstation graphics accelerator.

“ATI and HP customers rely on a superior level of performance and features designed into stable, reliable solutions that ensure system compatibility and investment protection,” said Joe Chien, General Manager, Workstation Product Group, ATI. “Working together, we are able to bring cutting edge workstation technology to a wide range of customers in content creation, computer aided design, medical imaging and visualization.”

Based on a scalable architecture, all of the new FireGL products, from entry-level through the ultra high-end, feature ATI’s industry leading Avivo(TM) video and display technology. The FireGL(TM) series offers a 10-bit per RGB component graphics pipeline, resulting in a finer level of detail, better performance and more advanced features. The entry-level FireGL V3300 features 128 MB of memory and dual DVI outputs; the high-end FireGL V7200 features 256 MB of memory, a 512-bit ring bus memory controller, two Dual Link enabled DVI outputs, and stereoscopic 3D output.

“HP is dedicated to providing our workstation customers with the most powerful, efficient, and reliable solutions for a variety of graphics and processing needs,” said Jim Zafarana, vice president of marketing, Workstation Division, HP. “By working with companies like ATI, HP can deliver unparalleled power to give customers the tools they need to take HP workstations where they’ve never gone before.”
