Las Vegas, USA – Philips is introducing a 22-inch 3D Display that provides an exciting, entertaining and engaging 3D experience, at InfoComm 2008 (June 18-20). The 22-inch 3D display, available as frame-mount and desktop, is ideal for use in digital signage for retail, point-of-sale advertising, gaming applications in casinos, games and 3D visualization. Thanks to the WOWvx technology used in Philips 3D Displays, no special viewing glasses are needed.
Philips 3D Solutions provides end-to-end 3D system solutions ranging from 3D displays, 3D content creation and conversion tools to technology licensing. By expanding its 3D Display product portfolio with the 22” 3D Display, Philips is responding to growing market opportunities, meeting the latest requirements such as a 16:10 aspect ratio. Jos Swillens, CEO of Philips 3D Solutions: “With our new 22-inch 3D display in our portfolio, we can offer a targeted 3D solution for retail advertising and gaming applications. By offering the product both as a frame-mount version as well as a desktop 3D display, it covers multiple market needs in one eye catching and engaging product”.
The 22-inch auto-stereoscopic 3D Display is based on a WSXGA (1680×1050) LCD panel with an aspect ration of 16:10, offering full brightness (300 cd/m2), full contrast (1000:1) and a response time of 5 ms. The WOWvx technology uses the 2D-plus-Depth format including Declipse, which gives additional occlusion information for a real 3D ‘look around’ effect. The 22-inch 3D Display will be commercially available from Q4 2008 onwards.
Philips will demonstrate the 22-inch 3D Display, together with a full range of other 3D Displays and content products at the Philips 3D Solutions booth C1519 in Central Hall 1 of the Las Vegas Convention Center at InfoComm 2008, from June 18-20 in Las Vegas, USA. On June 10th, invited UK press will get a sneak preview of the 22-inch at the Soho Hotel in London at a PPC/Philips 3D event.
