Round 2 Games today released a free public demo for Champion of Lore, its upcoming tactical, card-driven RPG played out on hex-grid battlefields, giving players their first hands-on look ahead of the full release.
It continues the universe of Guardian of Lore, the studio’s 2021 action-platformer rooted in Latin American mythology. Set decades later, ancient knowledge is being corrupted, causing myths to fracture and take on dangerous new forms. Players rise as a Champion to restore their truth, building two evolving decks (one per hero) plus a shared pool that grows with every battle.
Rather than relying on a fixed action-point system, the game ties the length of each turn to how well players sequence their hand. Chain cards by type or letter to unleash combos, and every kill draws a new one, keeping the momentum alive. Positioning matters just as much as what’s in your deck: managing range, controlling lines, and turning environmental hazards into weapons on a living hex battlefield.
„Our goal isn’t to keep players engaged indefinitely, but to create experiences that feel complete, memorable, and worth their time. We believe in games that players can enjoy fully and step away from satisfied, not systems built around endless engagement and aggressive monetization,“ Leopoldo Aizersztein, Founder of Round 2 Games.
