BIOSTAR, a leading manufacturer of consumer and industrial motherboards, edge computing solutions, graphics cards, and storage devices, today introduced the BIWCL-PAT industrial motherboard.
Powered by Intel® Core™ Series 3 (Wildcat Lake) processors, the BIWCL-PAT brings triple independent displays, high-speed NVMe storage expansion, and versatile wired and wireless connectivity into a small-form-factor platform. Designed for system integrators, it supports applications across industrial automation, AIoT, and edge computing, as well as human-machine interfaces (HMI), POS systems, and self-service kiosks.
With a 148 × 102mm footprint, the BIWCL-PAT is built for integration into space-constrained equipment. It supports processor options from Intel® Core™ 3 to Intel® Core™ 7, and its single DDR5-6400 SO-DIMM slot supports up to 64GB of memory, providing capacity for multitasking and local data processing. This combination gives developers a solid foundation for systems that bring computing closer to factory equipment, retail terminals, and networked devices.
Triple independent display support through LVDS, HDMI®, and DisplayPort lets one platform drive multiple screens with different content. HDMI® 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 each support 4K resolution at 60Hz, while the LVDS interface drives embedded panels at up to 1920 × 1200. Industrial operators can use separate displays for control interfaces, equipment status, and operational data, while POS and kiosk developers can combine operator screens with customer-facing information.
Three dedicated M.2 slots support storage, cellular, and wireless expansion. The M.2 Key-M slot accommodates 2242/2280 NVMe SSDs through PCIe 4.0 x2, enabling high-speed access to applications and locally stored data. An M.2 Key-B slot supports 3042/3052 4G/5G modules over PCIe 4.0 x1 and USB 3.2, with an onboard SIM slot for cellular network access. An M.2 Key-E 2230 slot supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules. Together, these options let integrators configure storage and wireless access for each deployment.
For always-on networking, the BIWCL-PAT features dual Intel® 2.5GbE LAN ports powered by Intel® I226-LM and I226-V controllers. The two interfaces let developers connect local equipment and upstream networks through separate ports, supporting reliable data exchange between embedded devices and wider infrastructure. Cellular and Wi-Fi expansion add further options for installations with different network access requirements.
The BIWCL-PAT also offers a practical mix of modern and industrial interfaces, with two USB 3.2 Gen2 ports, four USB 2.0 connections, two RS232/422/485 interfaces, two RS232 interfaces, and an 8-bit digital I/O header. These connections accommodate peripherals such as barcode scanners and industrial controllers.
Onboard TPM 2.0 provides hardware-based security capabilities, while supported operating systems include Windows 11 IoT Enterprise 24H2 or later and Ubuntu 24.04. A 9–24V DC input range and an operating temperature range of 0°C to 60°C further support deployment across industrial and commercial environments.
With the BIWCL-PAT, BIOSTAR gives system integrators the tools to build compact, connected systems for factory terminals, interactive kiosks, and retail installations. Its combination of multiple displays, dedicated M.2 expansion, and dual 2.5GbE networking helps power the edge across practical embedded applications.
