VoxRay Games is excited to announce a new project: Hardhats: Some Survival Required, a chaotic four-player co-op building adventure.

Hardhats evolves the best bits of the Voxile engine for multiplayer gameplay focused on building a bunch of cool structures – and fighting a lot of monsters along the way. Work together to get the job done, just watch out for falling objects and friendly fire.

Hardhats’s gameplay is a unique cocktail of survival and FPS gameplay with creative building quests. Construction tools like sledgehammers, nailguns, and dynamite do double duty as weapons and essential building equipment. Destroy the landscape to harvest materials from trees, mines, and ruins. Follow the blueprint – and improvise when it all inevitably goes wrong!

A playable demo of Hardhats will be coming to Steam NextFest this June.

About the Game

Don your hardhat as an intrepid and… inexpensive construction worker, willing to brave the farthest and most dangerous sites to get the job done. Work together with your crew to construct elaborate (and often incomplete) build plans. Wield the tools of your trade – nailgun, sledgehammer, power gloves, dynamite, and more – to bust apart the scenery for raw materials, fight local fauna to feed yourself, transport perilous towers of furniture, and hold together your slapdash architecture so the client is happy… enough.

• Build According to Plan – In Hardhats, construction is your quest. Build according to the blueprints – but you’ll need to improvise to keep it standing. Work together to nail objects into place or prop up ceilings, and exercise your creativity by furnishing, lighting, and decorating the rooms within. As long as the client’s happy!
• Many Builds to Complete – Choose from a variety of projects, including temples, monuments
• Use the Tools of the Trade – Your sledgehammer, nailgun, and dynamite do double duty as weapons to fend off angry (and delicious) monsters. Use the carpenter tool to quickly erect walls, windows, doorways, and ladders. Stack up towers of objects and carry them with powerful gloves – or just drop a fridge on an enemy’s head.
• Get Crafty – Use a variety of workbenches to craft tools, upgrades, objects, and other items from the raw materials you gather. Smelt ores into stronger metals, and cook food to keep yourself moving.
• Destruction for Construction – Every block of the landscape can be broken down and hoovered up for precious resources. But it’s not all about whacking nature – loot chests, crops, ruins, and more, or take your scavenged coin to the shop.
• Crazy Co-op – They say many hands make light work, but there are a lot of chefs in the kitchen. Whether working together to put heavy objects in place, crafting items for each other, or just exploring the strange landscape side-by-side, Hardhats is infinitely better with friends. (And you can always kick someone who steps out of line!)
• Build your own creations – Using our joyful and powerful level editor, build your own islands and share with your friends. Start with a procedurally-generated island and add your own build plans, boss fights, shops and scripted quests.
