Letzte Woche hatte AMD die Preise der Opteron Prozessoren für Workstations und Server gesenkt, heute waren erneut die Desktop-CPUs dran. Bereits am 22. Januar wurden die meisten Athlon 64 (X2) und Sempron Modelle etwas billiger, jetzt wurden viele Athlon 64 (X2) nochmals günstiger. Die Preissenkungen schwanken zwischen 3 und 45 Prozent, wobei die größten Kürzungen im High-End Bereich vorgenommen wurden.
So kostet beispielsweise der Athlon 64 X2 5400+ im Großhandel statt 485 nur noch 267 US-Dollar.
Neu in der Preisliste sind der schon seit Januar erhältliche „Energie-effiziente“ (EE) Athlon 64 X2 3600+ und ein alter Bekannter, der zuvor schon mal eingestellte Athlon 64 3200+. Beide runden ihre jeweilige CPU-Serie nach unten ab.
Nicht betroffen von der heutigen Preissenkung sind alle Mobilprozessoren und die Athlon 64 FX Modelle sowie die Sempron CPUs für Einsteiger und das Low-End Segment.
