Taipei, Taiwan – August 10, 2009 – A-DATA Technology Co. Ltd., the worldwide leader in DRAM module and Flash application products, announces today its “Device Metadata” packages are now available to Windows® 7 users. A device metadata package is used to display device-specific information in Devices and Printers. With photo-realistic icons and device information, users will experience not only fancy looks but also better device management.

The brand-new “Devices and Printers” folder (window) of Microsoft® Windows 7 enables a new function which will automatically update connected devices with correct information. Once a device is connected to a PC, Windows 7 will check its hardware ID and, if available, update “Device metadata” package which contains photo-realistic icons and detailed device information from Microsoft’s WMIS server. A-DATA is the world’s first manufacturer ready to provide all USB-related products (including USB Flash Drives, Portable Hard Drives) with device metadata packages upon release of Windows 7 RTM. Instead of the factory default icons, worldwide users will experience product-alike icons and detailed device information, making your device management easier than ever! The device metadata package gets updated instantly whenever you are online. You can experience it now! Just click Windows icon at the bottom-left corner of your monitor, and click “Devices and Printers” to see the changes.

All A-DATA USB products are ready for Windows 7. Device metadata packages are available for product models including USB Flash Drives and Portable Hard Drives purchased since second half of 2008. All new products of A-DATA will come with device metadata package now.
