San Mateo, California – May 13, 2014 – TabletMark V2, the new cross-architecture performance benchmark that explores different performance aspects of touch-enabled devices, was announced today by the Business Applications Performance Corporation (BAPCo), a non-profit consortium of leading PC hardware and consumer electronics manufacturers, technical press and software publishers.

TabletMark V2 builds upon the original TabletMark by adding the ability to measure battery life. It provides users an automated, objective, and easy-to-use tool to evaluate system performance and battery life across a wide range of activities. TabletMark V2 automates activities into three different usage scenarios: Web, Email, and Notes; Photo & Video Sharing and Video Playback. It also incorporates user pause times to help simulate real usage patterns. Results are displayed for the user at the conclusion of the run.

Unlike synthetic benchmarks, which only aim to measure one aspect of performance, TabletMark V2 uses a broad variety of Microsoft’s Modern APIs, expert selected user workloads and varied data sets in an effort to more closely reflect the performance a user might expect when performing similar workloads across a wide variety of real world applications. For these reasons and more, BAPCo benchmarks are the de facto standard for OEM’s, ODM’s, hardware and software developers, IT departments, system integrators, publishers and testing labs as well as information technologists and computer industry analysts.

TabletMark V2 is available for download from the Microsoft Store.

For over 23 years BAPCo’s membership has represented the breadth of the computing industry and harnesses a consortium of experts for the best in real world application based benchmarking. Today TabletMark V2 broadens the BAPCo family of benchmarks which include: SYSmark, MobileMark and EEcoMark which have been widely accepted by IT Managers, PC OEM’s, press and analysts worldwide.
