Nach mehr als zwanzig Jahren wird das Diskussionsforum von Hartware.net Mitte Januar 2024 geschlossen. Diskussionen zu Artikeln können natürlich weiterhin geführt werden, aber dann passend in den entsprechenden Kommentaren, sodass kein Wechsel in das Forum mehr notwendig ist.
Das Hartwareforum entstand 1999, als uns die Kollegen von Gamers.de sowie der Turtle Entertainment GmbH unter ihre Fittiche und auf ihre Server gezogen hatten. Damals war unser Forum Teil des berühmt-berüchtigten Turtleboards, in dem es ansonsten mehrheitlich um Gaming ging. Nach dem Aus für das Gamers Network Ende 2000 folgte Ende 2001 der Wechsel auf einen eigenen Server und schließlich auch auf ein eigenes Hartwareforum.
Die Gründe für das Aus des Hartwareforums sind mehrschichtig. Ab 2024 unterstützt der Betreiber unseres Servers PHP nur noch ab Version 8.0, aber das Hartwareforum basiert noch auf einer phpBB-Version, die damit nicht mehr kompatibel ist. Ein Upgrade auf eine neue phpBB-Version, so sehr sie aus Sicherheitsgründen auch zu empfehlen ist, kommt aber nicht mehr in Frage, da die mit phpBB vertrauten Personen bereits seit geraumer Zeit nicht mehr im Team von Hartware sind, weil sie sich anderen Dingen zugewandt haben.
Da das Hartwareforum in den letzten Monaten auch zunehmend unter Spam zu leiden hatte, den wir täglich entfernen mussten, ziehen wir jetzt den Stecker. Für Diskussionen rund um die Artikel auf Hartware steht jetzt die Kommentarfunktion der Website zur Verfügung, aber auch bei Facebook oder X (vormals Twitter) ist Feedback absolut erwünscht!

Es ist immer traurig zu sehen, wie eine so lange bestehende Online-Community wie das Hartwareforum ihre Türen schließen muss. Die Gründe sind verständlich, besonders in Anbetracht der technischen Herausforderungen und des Spams, mit dem das Team zu kämpfen hatte. Dennoch bleibt die Möglichkeit, Diskussionen über die Kommentare auf der Website sowie auf Facebook und X (ehemals Twitter) fortzusetzen. Ich hoffe, dass die Gemeinschaft auch weiterhin aktiv bleibt und dass die Diskussionen genauso lebendig und informativ bleiben wie bisher.

Tja, das Forum ist gestorben. Wer hätte gedacht, dass ein paar PHP-Versionen mehr so einen Aufstand machen? Ist schon traurig, aber in der heutigen Zeit sind diese Foren eh kaum noch relevant. Alles geht zu Social Media, wo die Diskussionen schnell untergehen. Echt schade um die alten Zeiten.
