London – Candella Software Ltd and Lightsprint s.r.o today announced a technology partnership for next generation PC benchmarks. As part of this agreement, Candella Software will incorporate Lightsprint’s breakthrough Realtime Radiosity Lighting technology into future benchmarks.
These benchmarks will also include a Realtime Raytracing technique developed internally by Candella Software, exclusively for next generation multicore CPUs and DirectX 10 GPUs.
“Realtime Radiosity Lighting with true Global Illumination is one of the holy grails of videogames,” says Stepan Hrbek, CEO of Lightsprint. “For the first time in the history of 3D technology, it is now possible to show off Pixar-quality images at interactive frame rates.”
Both the Realtime Radiosity Lighting and Realtime Raytracing technologies are highly scalable and capable of spanning across multicore CPUs and GPUs. The technologies will be incorporated into RyderMark Xtreme Edition and other upcoming Windows Vista/DirectX 10 benchmarks from Candella Software.
“In terms of CPU and GPU performance, these two breakthrough technologies will really separate the men from the boys,” says Pavel Grib, Lead Engine Programmer at Candella Software. “While using Realtime Radiosity Lighting and Realtime Raytracing, we are seeing dramatic differences in performance between various CPUs and GPUs. For instance, GPUs with lesser memory bandwidth and higher internal latencies will struggle to render at truly interactive framerates. Our benchmarks will give the PC gamers and hardware enthusiasts a very clear perspective on performance and bang per buck.”
RyderMark Xtreme Edition will be available for free download later this year.
