Soon after 3DMark Solar Bay for iOS became available, Apple announced their new iPhone 15 Pro with support for hardware-accelerated ray tracing, bringing significantly improved real-time ray tracing performance compared to previous iOS devices.

Solar Bay on iOS was built using the Metal API and already supports hardware-accelerated raytracing on iOS devices — no update needed.

3DMark Solar Bay is our recommended cross-platform ray tracing benchmark for comparing ray-traced gaming performance of the latest iPhones, previous iOS devices supporting ray tracing with the Metal API, high-end Android devices with support for Vulkan ray tracing, and Windows devices with support for Vulkan ray tracing. We recommend 3DMark Wild Life Extreme to measure non-ray-tracing gaming performance across platforms supporting iOS, Android, Windows 10 and 11, and Windows 10 and 11-on-Arm.

We’ve also just enabled in-app comparisons for Solar Bay on iOS devices. After you run a Solar Bay benchmark, you’ll instantly see how your iOS device compares with results from the same model and with all other supported iOS devices.
