With these panels, being shipped to Europe, China and Korea, Samsung Electronic is now shipping 7-Gen LCD TV panels from two production lines before its competitors have begun shipping any 7th Generation TV panels in volume anywhere.

Samsung LCD Business President Sang Wan Lee, along with 200 employees, attended a special “shipment launch” ceremony this morning.

Samsung Electronics opened its 7-2 Line on January 1st and expects to reach its full capacity of 45,000 units per month for the first phase by the end of June.

In addition to leading in LCD production capacity, the lightning speed at which Samsung has moved to bring the new plant online has given it the lead in the standardization of TV panels at 40″ and 46″, the main sizes that will be mass produced on its 7-2 line.

The 7-2 LCD Line, which is dedicated to the production of large-screen TV displays, will help fortify LCD as the leading panel technology for large-screen TVs.
According to the DisplaySearch, the LCD TV market size is expected to grow to 41.9 million units this year, which far surpasses that of PDP TV’s projected 9.44 million units for 2006.
