SiS to Enter the Server Market

Computex Taipei, June 6, 2006 – Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) today introduced its SiS756 Northbridge chipset and SiS966 Southbridge chipset for server and workstation. With the accumulated experience and complete product lines, SiS will present a series of server solutions to inspire the server market.

SiS756/SiS966 chipset supports AMD’s next-generation of Opteron™ CPU and DDR2. SiS and AMD have been working jointly on developing core-logic solutions for many years and also presented the market with numerous outstanding core-logic products. Other than SiS756/SiS966 chipset, SiS also presents SiS761SX to provide more server solutions to the market. The SiS756 and SiS761SX are pin-compatible to each other, which gives customers more flexibility when applying SiS’ chipsets on their server solutions.


Platform built with SiS756 Northbridge chipset and SiS966 Southbridge chipset supports PCI Express interface, and which has passed the PCI-SIG validation. Not only features PCIe interface, the platform also supports the PCI-X interface, which enhances the data processing ability and security of the system. SiS966 supports 4 SATAII ports, and RAID 0, 1, 0+1, JBOD, and 5, offering users necessary security of accessing hard disk data. Besides, SiS966 supports 8 USB2.0 ports which providing Gigabit Ethernet transmission of up to 1000MB/s.
