Die Rohleistung des Core i7-980X ist gewaltig. Schon ohne Übertaktung liegt die CPU mit rund 50 % mehr Leistung als der Core i7-975 vorne.
Richtig groß wird der Abstand bei der Kryptographie. Dank des AES Befehlssatzes mit sechs neu integrierten CPU-Instruktionen fliegen die Daten mit über acht Gigabyte pro Sekunde durch die Verschlüsselung.
Die Speicherbandbreite fällt dagegen wie bei den anderen Core i5/i7 CPUs aus.
