Der AMD A8-3870K liegt auf einem ähnlichen Niveau wie der direkte Vorgänger A8-3850. An Intels aktuelle Prozessoren ragt die APU nicht heran. Allerdings ist die APU auch für einen anderen Einsatzzweck ausgelegt.
