Nearly a decade after it took the world by storm, Pokémon GO is still going strong. Although the initial hype may have faded, the game hit almost 17 million downloads in the first half of 2025, adding to its already massive user base of tens of millions of active monthly players. This loyal fanbase has spent a jaw-dropping amount of money on the game over the years.
According to data presented by Betideas.com, Pokémon GO hit a jaw-dropping $6.1 billion in lifetime revenue, firmly cementing its place among mobile gaming’s elite.
Americans Spent Nearly $3.5 Billion on Pokémon GO, More Than Europe and Asia Combined
Nine years after its launch, Pokémon GO remains the cultural phenomenon that shook up the mobile gaming scene. While the initial hype may have faded, no other AR mobile game has ever come close to matching its success in terms of revenue, player base, cultural impact, and longevity. Even after its $3.5 billion acquisition by Saudi-owned gaming company Scopely, the game remains a huge money-maker, generating hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue.
During the first six months of 2025, Pokémon GO hit 16.9 million downloads, proving its popularity far from fading. With millions of new players, and its already huge active user base, the game grossed $297 million year-to-date, putting it on track to close the year with earnings similar to those in 2024 and 2023. Moreover, with $297 million from player spending in the first seven months of the year, Pokémon GO’s lifetime revenue hit a staggering $6.1 billion.
More than half of that value, or $3.5 billion, came from players in North and Latin America, home to the largest Pokémon GO fan base. That means American players alone have spent more on the game than Europe and Asia combined. In comparison, players from the APAC region spent $2.45 billion on the game so far, while the EMEA region follows with just over $1.
The Sixth Highest-Grossing Mobile Game of All Time
Pokémon GO’s success is even more impressive when compared to other megahits in the mobile gaming space. With $6.1 billion in lifetime revenue, Niantic`s megahit now ranks as the sixth highest-grossing mobile game of all time, cementing its spot in the elite club that includes titles like Clash of Clans, Roblox, Honor of Kings, and Monster Strike.
Honor of Kings remains the top title in this group, with a jaw-dropping $18 billion in lifetime revenue, more than Pokémon GO, Roblox, and Coin Master combined. Far below, Clash of Clans ranked second with around $10 billion in all-time player spending, followed by Monster Strike ($7.2 billion) Grand Order ($7 billion) and Puzzle& Dragons ($6 billion). Roblox and Coin Master sit just below Pokémon GO in total player spending, each with around $6 billion in lifetime revenue.
