iPod nano fängt Feuer

Glück im Unglück hatte der us-amerikanische Flughafenmitarbeiter Danny Williams: Sein iPod nano entzündete sich unerwartet von selbst, während Williams diesen in seiner Hosentasche mitführte. Die Ursache für den Brand ist bislang nicht geklärt, doch will Apple das Gerät untersuchen und hat Williams bereits Ersatz angeboten. Auch wenn bislang noch nicht genau klar ist, weshalb der iPod Feuer fing, liegt der Verdacht nahe, dass der verbaute Lithium-Ionen-Akku die Brandursache ist.

Williams äußerte sich zu dem Vorfall folgendermaßen:

„I am still kind of freaked out that after only a year and a half my iPod caught fire in my pocket.“

„So I look down and I see flames coming up to my chest. If [the US Transportation Security Administration] had come by and seen me smoking, they could have thought I was a terrorist.“
